Skyscreen unveils unique 'Ready to Print Stencil' Facility
Offers comprehensive range of services to raise print quality standards across the industry

The guests got a firsthand look at the ‘All under one roof’ setup created by SkyScreen comprising a Stretching machine, Fully automated emulsion coating machine, Dryer Machine, Screen Exposing Process and Washing both.
September 14, 2010 marked the beginning of a unique facility that the screen printing industry in India had been in need of since a very, very long time. Yes, this was the date SkyScreen launched its ‘Ready to Print Stencil’ Facility at Mumbai, the fi nancial capital of India, which hosts a substantial portion of the Indian screen printing community. The formal inauguration ceremony took place at the company’s premises at Devidayal Industrial Estate, Near Brittania, Reay Road, a location easily accessible to existing printer hubs in
central Mumbai.
At the pre-decided auspicious hour of 5.30 p.m., Chief Guest Fred Poonawala, President, Bombay Master Printers Association (BMPA) did the honours by cutting the ribbon along with Anil Brahmbhatt, Managing Director, SkyScreen (P) Ltd. and Guests of Honour Martin Statcher, Sales Director (Asia), Ulano Corporation, USA (who had specially flown down from Singapore to grace the occasion with his presence); Bhargav Mistry, CEO, DMI and Grafi ca Flextronica; and Ajay Gandhi, CEO, Kunal Enterprise. A number of printers had also been invited to witness the inauguration and have a look at the facility created specifi cally to meet their needs.
The guests got a fi rsthand look at the ‘All under one roof’ setup created by SkyScreen comprising a Stretching machine, Fully automated emulsion coating machine, Dryer Machine, Screen Exposing Process
and Washing both. The formal launch proceedings then adjourned to a cocktail and dinner function held at Hotel Peninsula, Sion, where a larger gathering of printers, friends and well wishers were already waiting to
begin the celebrations.

Devang N Sheth welcomed those gathered and pointed out that it was a very good occasion for the screen printing industry. “This is the fi rst time that a ‘Ready to Print Stencil’ Facility has been started in Mumbai and perhaps across India itself. I would say it is an excellent process house and printers should use it to their maximum advantage possible.”
Providing details about the new SkyScreen ‘Ready to Print Stencil’ Facility, Deepak Sharma, Sales Executive, SkyScreen, pointed out that this concept is the key to print quality. “In the screen printing industry, this is a very unique step. There are many people who want to do four-colour printing with fi ne line details but they lack accurate screens and exposing systems. This is a unit where you can get stencils made industries
like PCB, ceramics, CDs, etc. This is a noble cause to give a helping hand to the industry in reaching the desired quality. We are an alliance company, so when you speak to us there is no dealer in between; you speak directly to the company itself,” he said.

In his address, Chief Guest Fred Poonawala, President, BMPA, pointed out that “What SkyScreen is offering will add value to printers within the city and beyond it. Prepress became diluted because of digital; it was easy to do. The craft of making good photo mechanical plates is what SkyScreen offers. Frankly I did not know there were so many technicalities that only a company with expertise like SkyScreen can provide. Even offset printers can take advantage of this facility. They want their prints to look good using UV, gliter, stc, so offset too has a lot to benefi t from the new SkyScreen ‘Ready to Print Stencil’ Facility,” he declared.
Bhargav Mistry, CEO, DMI and Grafica Flextronica, which has provided the machines for the facility, emphasised that “Anil Bhrahmbhatt always has something different to offer and believes in doing things differently. While prepress in offset is not risk taking; to make a screen in screen printing is a risky task. Even if you go to a good quality printing house, screen making is not an important department. Screen is the heart of printing, so making good screens is important. In Mumbai, space is a constraint; you need 500 to 600 sq. ft. to do it. Printers can use this facility to understand what a good screen is and how it is made. Ihere is a need for this type of facility across India.”

Martin Statcher, Sales Director (Asia), Ulano Corporation, USA, declared that ‘It is a special occasion for us also as an alliance partner of SkyScreen. It is an important step, a milestone, which shows our commitment
to India. This will put us apart from all other companies in the market. This facility is a strong message that screen printing is not going to die. This shows we are on the right way. Our alliance between SkyScreen,
Nittoku and Ulano for India is certainly the way we want to cater to the needs of printers here. I hope our quality in stencil making will help the industry to grow.”
Ajay Gandhi, CEO, Kunal Enterprise, highlighted the importance of the screen printing process. “The screen printing process is growing very strong in industrial applications like decals printing and other areas, etc. What SkyScreen is doing with this facility will encourage printers. I meet many customers who are investing in screen printing industry for the fi rst time and they feel that screen making is very complicated, so they hesitate. The fi rst thing they ask me is ‘If I buy a machine from you, where can I get a screen made?’ A year back I met Anil Bhrahmbhatt and he had fi rst set up the Skyscreen facility at Mumbai and then at Delhi. Today, he has launched this ‘Ready to Print Stencil’ Facility. People can come to SkyScreen, get their prepress work done here and learn how the process works. Then, they can later on invest in their own equipment in future. Good materials and good processes lead to good screen printing and SkyScreen has both.”
It is easier to outsource than do it yourself, the learning curve is very difficult. Today there is a convergence in the areas of screen printing and offset. Massive projects are coming up. The way of the future is outsourcing the process, because the learning curve is very expensive.
On behalf of the SkyScreen customers and well wishers, Ramesh Iyer, Director, Gaiaka, which is into printing personalised CDs and DVDs, extended best wishes to Anil Bhrahmbhatt and team SkyScreen for the new facility. “They say well begun is half done and nowhere is this more apparent than in the screen printing industry. My association with SkyScreen began with their inception and even before that. We wanted to outsource screen making to a reliable agency. It is easier to outsource than do it yourself, the learning curve is very diffi cult. Massive projects are coming up. The way of the future is outsourcing the process, because the learning curve is very expensive. I am now looking at how to outsource my entire stencil making to SkyScreen,” he said.

Anil Brahmbhatt, Managing Director, SkyScreen (P) Ltd., thanked the guests and invitees for accepting his invitation and being a part of such an important occasion for not just SkyScreen but the screen printing industry in India too. He thanked Martin Statcher for flying in all the way from Singapore for the launch and appreciated the efforts of Bhargav Mistry for helping in setting up the unit. He capped off the evenings proceedings with yet another blockbuster announcement – the launch of SkyScreen’s branch office at Delhi. The function concluded with the traditional ‘shawl’ and ‘coconut’ being presented to al the guests as a mark of respect and gratitude.

kyscreen (P) Ltd. Opens Delhi Branch
Much-awaited office will cater to the needs of printers in the North India region with a quicker response time

A couple of months ago, when SkyScreen (P) Ltd. inaugurated its new Stretching facility in Delhi, the printers gathered for the function had welcomed the new development. They had also voiced a desire to have the company set up its branch office at Delhi and formally requested Anil Brahmbhatt, Managing Director, SkyScreen (P) Ltd. to do so whenever feasible. Even in their wildest dreams they would not have expected that this wish would be granted so quickly. The very next month, at the launch function of SkyScreen’s ‘Ready to Print Stencil’ Facility at Mumbai, Anil Brahmbhatt capped off the evenings proceedings with yet another blockbuster announcement – the launch of SkyScreen’s branch office at Delhi the next morning. The dawn of September 15th witnessed him flying to Delhi along with Guest of Honour Martin Statcher, Sales Director (Asia), Ulano Corporation, USA, who had specially flown down from Singapore to grace the SkyScreen inaugurations with his presence.
Taking a conscious decision to restrict the number of invitees at just 40, Team SkyScreen were pleasantly surprised to see 35 of them gathered at the Delhi branch premises at the scheduled inauguration time. By Delhi standards, this response far exceeded all expectations. After cutting the ceremonial ribbon, the invitees stepped into the spacious SkyScreen premises at WH-1, First Floor, Mayapuri Industrial Area, Phase I, New Delhi 110064, a location where a significant number of printing units operate from. The excellent facility made a very good impression on the guests, who expressed their appreciation.
Anil Brahmbhatt pointed out that “We have responded to the overwhelming demand by printers from in and around Delhi in the shortest possible time. We are making a conscious attempt to raise the quality standards of the screen printing industry across India and Delhi will be one of our key focus areas.”
Anil Brahmbhatt pointed out that “We have responded to the overwhelming demand by printers from in and around Delhi in the shortest possible time. With the support of DR Optical we are able to actively serve the printers in North India. Our branch office has opened within their premises, so they have facilitated this inauguration to a large extent. We will be able to keep our full stock of products here and there will be many commercial advantages as well. This is our next step after opening a Stretching facility with ultra-modern equipment for perfect results in Delhi two months ago. This decision exemplifi es our commitment towards the North India region. We envisage this belt as being a key growth area for SkyScreen in the very near future.”
“We are making a conscious attempt to raise the quality standards of the screen printing industry across India and Delhi will be one of our key focus areas. This will also help us service our customers faster with a speedier response time. There is a great deal of untapped potential in North India and we feel that the Delhi branch will also enable us to substantially increase our customer base. We have ambitious growth plans and this is one of the milestones of the journey that SkyScreen has embarked upon right since its inception,” he added.

Martin Statcher declared that ‘It is a special occasion for us also as an alliance partner of SkyScreen. It is an important step, a milestone, which shows our commitment to India. This will put us apart from all other companies in the market. I am sure that screen printing in India will continue to grow. In 1996, at the FESPA show they had showcased digital process for the fi rst time. Everyone said then that screen printing will be edged out by it. Today, 14 years down the line, we are investing in screen printing. Screen printing is probably the most versatile printing method. Apart from water and air, you can print on almost anything. This is set to grow in Asia. This new SkyScreen branch at Delhi is a strong message that screen printing is not going to die. This shows we are on the right way.”
Devesh Rathod, Director, DOpticalDisc India (P) Ltd., a leading player in the scren printing industry, said, “We are working closely with SkyScreen in a mutual partnership.”
The new SkyScreen branch in Delhi is indeed something that was essentially required and now, the wishes of Delhi printers have indeed been fulfi lled. With an existing customer base of over 100 printers in New Delhi area, it seems SkyScreen is well on the fast track to growth in this part of India as well.
Skyscreen starts Stretching facility in New Delhi
Location near industrial belt of Noida to serve its over 100 strong customer base in the area and focus on North India region
Some of the leading Delhi - based printers had been invited for the occasion and they too voiced their happiness that SkyScreen has set up the Stretching Facility in their city
When a company is on the fast track to growth, one of the most visible signs of this development is the expansion of its activities. SKYSCREEN (P) Ltd. recently responded to its growing clientele in New Delhi by starting a new Stretching facility at a convenient to access location near the industrial area of Delhi & NCR. The company also plans to open a branch office in New Delhi with suitable partner. The stretching facility would serve its over 100 printer strong customer base in the area, giving a sure indication that it has made India’s national capital a key focus area for its operations.
The launch function was held recently at the Stretching Facility premises located in Laxmi Nagar, New Delhi which has the prominent Mother Dairy brand as its backyard neighbour. The inauguration of this new facility was done by Bhargav Mistry of Grafi ca Flextronica, who appreciated the initiative of SKYSCREEN (P) Ltd. Some of the leading Delhi-based printers had been invited for the occasion and they too voiced their happiness that SKYSCREEN has set up the Stretching Facility in their city and that too, at a key location for their convenient and easy access. This would now enable them to provide better quality output to their clients without having to entail much time or effort, they declared in unison.
Recognising the untapped potential here, we have even started a branch office, which is being headed by Nirankar Tiwari who is actively working to expand our customer base in Delhi. With this, we have now made North India a key growth area for SKYSCREEN

Anil Brahmbhatt, Managing Director, SKYSCREEN (P) Ltd., explained that the Stretching facility uses ultra-modern equipment for perfect results. “It is a logical expansion as we are also supplying Nittoku mesh from Japan. So now using this cloth, customers can get best quality results at a very reasonable price and that too, in very short time. Our aim has been to grow our company in tandem with the screen printing industry, including all those involved in it in the best way possible. This is our initiative to help Delhi-based printers enhance the quality of their output without any inconvenience whatsoever. Recognising the untapped potential here, we shortly plan to start a branch offi ce, which will help us to expand our customer base in Delhi. We have now made North India a key growth area for SKYSCREEN,” he said.
Bhargav Mistry of Grafi ca Flextronica, concurred that the new SKYSCREEN Stretching facility was indeed much required and one that Delhi’s printers had been looking forward to with eager anticipation. “It is essential to have precision at the pre-press stage so this facility being provided by SKYSCREEN will indeed have a benefi cial impact on the screen printing industry in the New Delhi area,” he said.
Deepak Sharma, SKYSCREEN (P) Ltd., pointed out that the Stretching facility’s location in Laxmi Nagar is near the industrial area of Noida and therefore, would be a good location to serve their customers. “We have over 100 customers in New Delhi Area and we thought this would be the excellent business expansion and serve our quality conscious customer in an even better way,” he added.
Nirankar Tiwari, Marketing Manager- New Delhi, SKYSCREEN (P) Ltd., was quite optimistic about the future prospects for the company’s new premises.

Vibrant Gujarat is a role model worth emulating If you ever have the occasion to drive down the super express highway between Baroda and Ahmedabad, consider it an example of how the state of Gujarat now operates in every sphere. You can comfortably drive down the entire stretch at a high speed without any bumps or jerks, without having to watch out for errant drivers coming from the wrong direction, confi dent in the knowledge of reaching your destination well on time. You can literally set your automobile on cruise control, put your feet up and relax for the entire journey. The same experience is replicated these days when you do business with anyone in Gujarat. The people are enterprising, the infrastructure is well developed and set in place, the business community on the whole is positive and supportive of new endeavours, a minimum quality standard is a given and the growth story is dazzling. I Where the screen printing industry is concerned, Gujarat has traditionally been a key textile printing hub. Over the years, as the markets evolved and domestic demand for their products reduced, the screen printers shifted focus to cover a variety of export markets. Business boomed instead of declining and profi tability continued unhindered. Now, understanding the need to increase quality standards, they are rapidly opting for automation and quality input materials to ensure that a ‘Made in Gujarat’ printed product can hold its own against the best in the world. Rather than be put off by the expense involved, they wisely consider it as an investment against which their company would get higher profi ts in future. They have the foresight to ensure that their bottom line remains healthy, regardless of a global recession or the recovery phase. This was not the case slightly over a decade ago, when frequent curfews and an atmosphere of fear used to deter investors from the state and the local citizens were hesitant to invest in their own business growth. However, ever since the fearless Shri Narendra Modi took charge as the Chief Minister, Gujarat has not witnessed any curfews. There is a positive atmosphere overall and people feel truly safe and secure. This is one of the reasons why Gujarat has moved to the top of the list when it comes to attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). The state is now seen as a ‘Land of Opportunity’ for international and domestic investors. The way Gujarat moved swiftly and decisively under Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership to be chosen as the new location for the Tata Nano car project over many other states shows that it has the ability to repose a high level of confi dence within others about its capabilities. Today, Gujarat is considered not just by India, but the entire world as a state where things happen. The vibrant state commemorated 50 golden years recently and the celebrations were worth a mention. Gujarat is clearly on the fast track to growth and shows no signs of slowing down in future. Gujarat is truly a role model worth emulating in every sense. "Ever since the fearless Shri Narendra Modi took charge as the Chief Minister, Gujarat has not witnessed any curfews. There is a positive atmosphere overall and people feel truly safe and secure. This is one of the reasons why Gujarat has moved to the top of the list when it comes to attracting foreign direct investment." Anil Brahmbhatt. |
