AB'S DIARY
Dec 2010
Thanks For Making it possible December 2010 witnessed something unique, something never seen or heard of before in the annals of screen printing in India. For the first time, an Indian screen printing exhibition was supported by Asian Screenprinting and Graphic Association (ASGA) and co-branded as Screen Print India 2010 / ASGA India 2010. For the first time, the top foreign screen printing industry dignitaries from across the globe gathered in India at a single venue. For the first time, ASGA delegations from 10 countries visited the exhibition. For the first time, a SGAI interactive event ‘India Calling’ brought these dignitaries and their Indian counterparts together to explore business potential. I asked myself, is it really possible to convey just how much we appreciate the efforts of those who made this happen, within this one page? While I realize that no words can convey the depth of our heartfelt gratitude, it is imperative to at least try and do so. So let me make an attempt to at least put on record the fact that we were absolutely delighted to have so many foreign dignitaries honour our invitation and visit India. My first ‘Thank You Very Much’ goes to ASGA. It is only because they held their committee their bi-annual meeting for the first time in India, coinciding with the Screen Print India 2010/ ASGA India 2010 show, that all this became possible. To all those honoured guests who undertook the long journey to India, I extend thanks - Pei Guifan, Chairman, ASGA; C. Y. Lee, President, KSGIA; Wiwik Kamarium Oen, Central SPS, Indonesia; Yoshida Hiroshi, Chairman, JSDPA; Shen Chunyan, Secretary General, CSGIA; Bach Thi To Anh, Chairman, VSGIA; Pirach Thampipit, President, TSGA; Rudy Lim Ong, President, SIDGAP; and Dharini Karunaratne, President, SLAP along with a special thank you to Michael Robertson, CEO/President, SGIA. For bringing large delegations to India and setting the stage for a fruitful industry interaction, I would thank all the ASGA member associations, especially JSDPA; TSGA and SIDGAP. I also appreciate David Ho, Executive Chairman, CSPIA and James Wang, General Secretary, CSPIA, for getting their delegation to India for the duration of the event. I would also take this opportunity to thank our Indian screen printing community members for putting their best foot forward and exemplifying the Indian hospitality tradition ‘Atithi Devo Bhava.’ Now that the connection has been made, let us keep the interaction on and work together to achieve mutually benefi cial goals. Above all, a big ‘Thank You’ to Mr. Sanjay Bhagat, COO, Classic Stripes for recognizing and supporting SGAI’s initiatives like India Calling. They have started a new trend and now, we look forward to other corporate emulating their example in future. "While I realize that no words can convey the depth of our heartfelt gratitude, it is Anil Brahmbhatt. |
